Keshav Maharaj has been included in both the ODI and T20I squads as South Africa announced their squads for the white-ball tour of England. The left-arm spinner, who recently rose to No. 1 in the ICC ODI bowling rankings after a five-wicket haul in the opening ODI against Australia, makes his return to the T20I side after missing the tri-series in Zimbabwe and the tour of Australia.
On Maharaj’s return, coach Shukri Conrad said, "We were experimenting with the spin-bowling allrounders in our most recent T20I series, and Keshav was always part of our broader plans. His return to the squad strengthens our spin options. Beyond his obvious skill with the ball, he brings calmness and leadership to the group."
Seamer Lizaad Williams returns to the T20I squad after knee surgery, having last played in October 2024. Left-arm pacer Marco Jansen, out since the World Test Championship final in June due to thumb surgery, also makes a comeback.
David Miller rejoins the team after missing the Australia series for franchise duties; he is currently with Northern Superchargers in the Hundred. Allrounder Donovan Ferreira, playing for Oval Invincibles, will join the T20I squad once that tournament ends.
The three-match ODI series between South Africa and England begins on 2 September at Headingley, Leeds, followed by games on 4 September at Lord’s, London, and 7 September at the Rose Bowl, Southampton.
The T20I series starts on 10 September at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, continuing on 12 September at Old Trafford, Manchester, and concluding on 14 September at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
