Ryan Reynolds has finally responded to mounting speculation about his role in the upcoming Marvel film 'Avengers: Doomsday'.
Ryan responds to filming Doomsday
Contrary to the buzz around town, the actor, best known for playing Deadpool, clarified during an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival that he has not begun filming for the upcoming ensemble blockbuster.
Reynolds was attending the festival to promote 'John Candy: I Like Me', a documentary he produced. Asked whether he had slipped in any Easter eggs from 'Avengers: Doomsday', he told EW, “There’s four that I’ve got in there. Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”
Ryan Reynolds' alleged feud with Robert Downey Jr
His comments come amid intense fan speculation about Deadpool’s role in 'Avengers: Doomsday' and amidst buzz of tempers flaring on the film sets. Social media has been abuzz with rumours of an alleged feud between Reynolds and Downey Jr., who is set to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in 'Doomsday'. Reports suggest that tensions arose on set, over a viral blind item alleging personal remarks involving their spouses sparked off a headed confrontation.
This rumour was fuelled amidst Reynold's wife, Blake Lively's, ongoing legal battle against 'It Ends With Us' director Justin Baldoni and her alleged fallout with singer Taylor Swift.
What tabloids reported
However, multiple outlets, including People and TMZ, have dismissed the speculation, stating that the two actors have never met in person and share “zero bad blood.”
Reynolds’ entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe came with the film 'Deadpool & Wolverine' which was a critical and commercial success at the box office, grossing an estimated $1.3 billion worldwide and went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
