Pant Soars to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Retains Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Update
The ICC Test rankings have been updated, reflecting significant movements after a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. India's Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are the headline-makers, achieving new career-high rankings following their remarkable displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings, propelled by his twin centuries at Headingley. His scores of 134 and 118 made him only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve this feat. Pant is also the first Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter, closely followed by his compatriot Harry Brook. India's Shubman Gill climbed five places to 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the No. 1 position in the Test bowling rankings, solidifying his dominance with another five-wicket haul at Headingley. England’s Ben Stokes, after significant contributions with both bat and ball, has moved up three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen movement following the tri-series in Glasgow, involving the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen also made significant progress, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to be a key indicator of individual performance, every run and wicket contributes to shaping the evolving hierarchy in the world of cricket.
