Smriti Mandhana celebrates her record-breaking century.
This significant milestone occurred during the first T20I between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. Mandhana delivered a breathtaking innings of 112 runs from just 62 balls.
As captain, Mandhana led from the front, showcasing a dominant performance that included 15 fours and three impressive sixes. Her aggressive yet composed innings propelled India to a formidable total of 210/5 in 20 overs, marking their highest-ever T20I score against England.
This century was also Mandhana's first in T20Is, making her the first Indian woman batter to complete this rare feat. Her century set an aggressive tone early in the match. She combined elegance with power, effectively neutralizing England's top spinners, such as Sophie Ecclestone, with fearless strokeplay.
India also saw valuable contributions from Harleen Deol (43 off 23) and Deepti Sharma (7 not out off 3). India maintained a strong run rate throughout the innings. Lauren Bell was England’s most successful bowler, taking three wickets.
Mandhana's achievement places her among a select group of cricketers globally, both male and female, who have scored centuries in all three formats of the game. Her milestone is a defining moment not only for her career but also for Indian women’s cricket. She is inspiring a new generation of cricketers to dream big and overcome obstacles.
With this commanding performance, Mandhana has again reinforced her position as a leading figure in Indian women’s cricket, known for her consistency, fearlessness, and record-breaking achievements.
